The Central Bank of Malta is issuing a new euro coin set dated 2011 which will incorporate the eight Maltese euro coins, designed by Noel Galea Bason. The set also includes a €2 commemorative coin, bearing the inscription ‘First Elected Representatives – 1849’. This coin was designed by Ganni Bonnici and is the first in a series of five €2 commemorative coins commemorating Malta’s constitutional history.

The set, which will be in a distinctive box, will also include a replica coin of the Punic period, the original of which is currently held in the Bank’s Currency Museum collection.

The set will be on sale from Wednesday, the 19th of October 2011, at the price of €35 including VAT from the Malta Coins Distribution Centre at the main building of the Central Bank of Malta.
