The four month Gozo promotion at the Duty Free Store at the Malta International Airport came to a close recently. The lottery draw took place at the Duty Free Store, in the presence of the Malta Tourism Authority CEO, Mr Josef Formosa Gauci, Mr Joakim Hörnfeldt, General Manager for The NUANCE Group (Malta) Ltd. and a Lotto and Gaming Authority inspector.

The MTA had teamed up with The NUANCE Group (Malta) Ltd. who run the Duty Free Store locally to further promote Gozo through the in store promotion ‘Taste of Malta,’ The promotion targeted visitors leaving the islands with the aim of raising Gozo’s profile as a holiday destination in its own right, a view which the MTA said it actively promotes through various efforts such as fairs, brochures, press coverage overseas via press trips and familiarisation trips to Gozo.

With every €10 spent on Maltese and Gozitan products bought from the Duty Free Store, departing visitors were handed a lottery ticket entitling them to participate in the draw of a weekend break for two at the Kempinski Hotel Gozo, with flights on Airmalta from any destination it operates.

In all, over the four months of the promotion covering most of June, July, August and September around 40,000 tickets were distributed. The lucky winner of the prize hails from Japan and will be visiting Gozo in the next six months.
