A Child Care Centre is to be established in Gharb with a grant to the Local Council of around €67,000, which is being financed by funds allocated by the Ministry for Gozo for Gozitan Local Councils and Administrative Committees in the implementation of the eco-Gozo action plan 2010-2012.
While visiting the site, the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono thanked the Council for its participation in the scheme and said that “through the new child care centre parents from around the island will be given an opportunity to avail themselves of the services on offer, which will enable them to achieve a better work-life balance.”
The Minster spoke about the tender published earlier this week by the Gharb Local Council, on management and operation of the centre. “Tenders for this call will remain open until Tuesday, the 22nd of November 2011. Once completed the centre will be able to take care of a maximum of 30 children aged between one and three years.”
Gharb Local Council, through the same scheme, said that it “will be buying an eco-cab and eco-truck as well as two battery-powered vehicles which will thereby reduce emissions of CO 2. The eco-truck will replace a 25-year old petrol driven maintenance truck, which is used on a daily basis.
