The Gozo Sports Board has this week been presented with an international award in London, for its organisation of the Gozo Sports Festival, winning The WTM Global Sport Tourism Innovation Award.

This was the first year of the Global Sport Tourism Awards, which were presented at the World Travel Market London, on Monday.

The judges gave the honour with a unanimous vote to the Gozo Sports Board. The other finalists in the category were:

– Cardiff 'Ball in the Wall' – Rugby World Cup 2015

– Quest Adventure Series

– The Race – Ireland's Ultimate Endurance Event

– Thomas Cook Sport Terrace

The award was presented to Chief Executive of the Gozo Sports Board Alvin Grech, by former Manchester United player Dwight Yorke and World Champion road racing cyclist Stephen Roche.
