Xaghra’s Diana Formosa wins special prize in Hungary

Diana Formosa, who is 11-years-old and hails from Xaghra, has been singing for the last 6 years. Diana said that singing and music have always been her main inspiration and hobby.
This month Diana represented Malta in Hungary, where she won the special prize with two songs, ‘Think of Me’ and Vizjoni. Following her success in Hungary Diana has now been invited to participate in a festival in Macedonia next year.
She has participated in a number of music festivals around Malta and Gozo and has enjoyed a great deal of success. Diana has been chosen to participate in a variety of musicals and was said to have given great performances, both as a main actor and solo singer, including some performances on local TV stations.
Her favourite Mini-Musical was ‘Once Upon a Time’ at the Astra Theatre, where she took part in the Joseph Calleja Choir. Then at the age of 7 she took part in the operas La Boheme, Carmen and Tosca at the Aurora Theatre. Diana also sang traditional Maltese singing (Quddiesa b Ghana) at the Xaghra church.
This year has been a great success for Diana, with 1st places awarded in several festivals, including 1st place and overall winner at the Nadur Song Festival, 1st place and overall winner in the Gaffiero Festival and twice as best voice at Stardust Promotion Festivals, where recently she won 1st place and Best Junior Singer of the year 2011.
Diana said that she is very thankful for all the support she has received over the years, especially from her parents and from those who believe in her including Stardust Promotions, because singing is her lifelong ambition and dream.
