Chorus Urbanus opens its series of commitments for the yuletide period with just less than a month to go to Christmas Day. The Choir started the season with a concert of carol-singing to open the Christmas Village organised by the Victoria Local Council.
As in previous editions, the Christmas Village in Victoria Gozo is being held in St George’s Sqaure. A number of wooden chalets have been erected to house various outlets selling a wide variety of goods ranging from Christmas decorations to gift objects to wines and spirits. Father Christmas and sleigh are also there for children to have photographs taken with. The Chrismas Village, which opened yesterday, concludes tomorrow evening.
Chorus Urbanus, under the direction of Dr John Galea, performed a number of traditional Christmas carols sung mainly a capella. Noel Galea (bass) and Mario Portelli (tenor) sang the solo parts of Adeste Fidelis and God Rest You Merry Gentlemen, and Oh Little Town of Bethlehem respectively.
The choir ended it’s short concert with Arcadelt’s Ave Maria.
