Fr Ignatius Micallef MSSP celebrates 60 years as a priest

On Thursday the 22nd of December 2011, Fr Ignatius Micallef MSSP, celebrated his 60th anniversary as a priest.

Three priests were originally ordained (MSSP), Fr Stanley Tomlin died on 4th May 2010 and the other, Fr Claudio Borg is still living in Australia.

Fr Ignatius Micallef, who is 85-years of age, was born in Tarxien Malta on the 20th of March 1926. His parents Pawlu and Giovanna Micallef had five children, 3 boys and two girls.

For the last 19 years Fr Micallef has been in Zebbug Gozo at the MSSP retreat house, Dar Stella Maris and is still living in Gozo.

The Missionary Society of St. Paul was founded by the Servant of God Mons. Giuseppe DePiro in 1910 with a missionary charism. The General Headquarters of the Society is in Rome. The Motherhouse, St. Agatha, is at Rabat, and adjoining it is the Novitiate House “Davos”, St. Paul’s Missionary College, DePiro Youth Centre, and the Catacombs and Museum. The Formation House is in St. Venera. The Society runs St. Domenico Savio Oratory in B’Kara, a retreat house in Zebbug, Gozo, and St. Joseph Home in Sta. Venera, which also houses the Missionary Animation Centre. The Society has established seven houses in Australia, four in Peru, two in Pakistan, and one in the United States, Canada and the Filippines.
