Bank of Valletta presented €115,000 to L-Istrina 2011 following another successful BOV Piggy Bank Campaign.

This is the eighth consecutive year that BOV has joined the Malta Community Chest Fund in this nationwide campaign to help raise awareness and funds for the Istrina Campaign. Over 5,000 piggy banks were distributed to schools across Malta and Gozo as well as main shopping outlets. A number of large piggy banks, which have become synonymous with the BOV Piggy Bank Campaign, were placed in main shopping centres to help raise more funds.

BOV’s Young Savers’ mascots, Cikkurillu and Cikkurilla were present at shopping centres, handing out gifts to children and to promote the campaign.

This year BOV also launched the L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign on Facebook.

L-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign 2011 raised a record figure that was topped up by BOV to reach a total donation of €115,000. Charles Borg, CEO of BOV, together with BOV staff members, presented the donation to H.E Dr George Abela and Mrs Abela during the live presentation of L-Istrina Campaign held on Boxing Day.

More than half a million Euro have been presented to L-Istrina to date through the BOV L-Istrina Piggy Bank Campaign since this initiative was launched in 2004.
