John Inguanez is new Permanent Secretary in Gozo MinistryJohn Inguanez has been appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Gozo. His new position will come into effect from the 22nd of January 2012. He will replace Mr Joe G. Scerri who has moved to Heritage Malta as the new CEO.

John Inguanez joined the Public Service service in April 1987, after graduating from the University of Malta with at Batchelor of Arts (Hons) in Public Administration. In 1991 he obtained an Advanced Diploma in European Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.

In 1991, John Inguanez entered the European Union Directorate within the Foreign Affairs Ministry, where he worked on the preparatory phase for Malta’s membership in the European Union. Between 1999 and 2006, as Director for Policy in the same Directorate, Mr Inguanez had several responsibilities associated with the accession process, including the coordination of political dialogue between Malta and the European Union. He was also Deputy Representative of the Government in the European Convention on the Future of Europe between February 2002 and July 2003.

In March 2006, Mr. Inguanez was appointed Director General for Political Affairs where he was responsible for matters of a Multilateral and Global Policy Development (until 2009), Bilateral relations with countries outside Europe, including the co-chairmanship of a number of Mixed Commissions with Libya and Tunisia, as well as matters connected with the Mediterranean region. He was also involved in various areas of the Common Foreign and Security Policy of European Union and represented Malta as Political Director at the European level.

John is married to Darlene née Debattista and they have a son, Nicholas.
