The Civil Protection Department has issued a statement this evening urging motorists to avoid low-lying areas that are prone to flooding.

The CPD said that according to weather information received, some parts of Malta could be hit by heavy rain overnight. “Motorists are advised to drive with caution, particularly in poor visibility and to avoid places that are are usually prone to flooding.” The CPD also advised members of the public not to park their vehicles in areas liable to flooding.
