“As you well know by now I am not Gozitan, but I retired and live in Gozo.
Why oh why has Gozo got to be treated as second class island, why do Gozitans accept everything that is thrown at them?
I am referring to the decision that Air Malta has made to close their Gozo office. This was a useful office with two most courteous members of staff.
Now I know there are those who are going to say, but Air Malta is cutting down on all staff and there are also those who would suggest to me to use the internet. Ok I am old fashioned, but I did have queries where the internet and a phone call could not sort them out. Yet a short drive to Victoria and at the Air Malta office everything was sorted out in a jiffy. There is nothing like face to face instead of hiding behind this stupid computer.
For Air Malta this is like scraping the bottom of the barrel. It would make good sense if they got rid of those over paid mostly foreign top management, after all you prune the tree from the top not from it’s roots
At Heathrow airport we have to use the Alitalia check in (honestly I don’t know whether to laugh or cry…… Alitalia) yet we have a Maltese chap who just leans on the desks watching the weight you are carrying, surely that is what the Alitalia girls are there for. Do we need a manager there? but we can save by cutting the Gozo branch instead.
When earlier I said why do Gozitans accept everything thrown at them, I did not just mean the ordinary Joe Blogs in the street, but surely I would have thought GTA would have something to say about this besides all the other businesses such as hoteliers etc etc, because this is going to affect tourists and other businessses
I follow eveything on this website and cannot understand how nobody bothered writing about this injustice
Protest strongly about this injustice.”

Could not agree with you more Anthony, That office is manned by two of the nicest people you could ever want to meet, every time I go there I am treated like family, and Tony and Terry can not do enough for you. If Air Malta want to chop dead wood just take a look around Malta Airport first ,you will have no trouble finding dozens that need the chop. Why is it always Gozo.?
Terry, since I have wrote this letter I have found out that Air Malta did not pay rent or even the electricity bill, so the term scraping the barrel is more then correct
YES I AGREE THEY SHOULD LEAVE THIS OFFICE ALONG WE ALWAYS HAD VERY GOOD SERVICE IN GOZO TONY AND TERRY ARE THE BEST LEAVE IT AS IT IS PLEASE
The internet is killing every store on earth so it makes sense to close up shop when the company is on the verge of going out of business. You don’t stay open to please a few.
