The Gozo Police said this afternoon that they had arrested a 30-year-old Qala man today following reports that a man had been acting in a suspicious manner in the area of Palm Street, in Victoria.

The statement said that the Police who attended the scene, did not at first notice anbody or anything suspicious. It was shortly afterwards that they were told that a robbery had taken place at a jewellery store in St George’s Square.

A search of the area was made and a man, fitting the description given of the robber, was arrested in Arturo Mercieca Street in Victoria.

It is estimated that around €1,500 worth of goods were taken from the shop.
