The Gozo SPCA has said today that at last nights Annual General Meeting of the Society it was agreed that it will no longer be searching for premises for a new Centre and will concentrate its efforts on upgrading the current Centre in Victoria to comply with the Animal Welfare Act specifications.
The Society has tried for many years to locate to new premises, coming so close on several occasions but without success.
The Gozo SPCA said that, “This will mean a reduction in the number of dogs from as many as 25, to about 6 (the exact number will depend on an architects report), there will be proper isolation/quarantine zones unlike at the present time.”
Betty Berry of the Gozo SPCA visited the Centru San Frangisk in Malta this afternoon in order to collect Foxie, to return her to the farm where she lives in Gozo.
Betty was accompanied by Foxie’s carer/feeder Jan, in order to make the journey for her as stress-free as possible.
Foxie was rescued earlier in April, in a joint effort with Gozo SPCA and AWD after she was seen with a tin jammed in her mouth, distressed and unable to feed.
Despite several attempts to catch her it was decided that she would need to be darted and this was eventually carried out by the AWD Malta to assist Gozo SPCA in the capture.
Foxie is to be released tomorrow morning back on the farm where she lives.
