The Ministry of Education and Employment has said that anybody who intend to offer an educational programme in the form of a Summer School/Club and do not have a licence for a school should apply to register their Summer school/club as an educational establishment with the Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education as stipulated by law. The registration will be valid for Summer 2012.

To qualify for such a registration an establishment needs to provide an informal educational programme consisting of creative, cultural, recreational and sports activities which does not lead to formal certification, for children aged between 3 and 16 years for the period between June and September.

Those interested in providing this service are to provide the Directorate with all the necessary information and documents as requested in Legal Notice 185/2009.

Parents making use of this service should be informed before registering their children about fees and other expenses involved. Only the Summer schools/clubs registered with the Directorate will be exempted from Value Added Tax on the fees for the service rendered. A list of registered Summer Schools can be viewed after the closing date at the site below.
