Yesterday, the post-secondary student group, Students’ Voice, held a discussion with the Ambassador to Malta for Climate Change Dr Simone Borg. The discussion focused on climate change issues, and how these affect our global society, as well as every individual in particular.

During the discussion, Dr Borg explained how climate change is not something distant from us, but rather a situation we have to accept and adapt to. Dr Borg appealed not to let oneself fall prey to sensationalist ideas often portrayed by the media, which most often talk of environmental chaos which may not happen after all. Therefore, it is essential for students to educate themselves and others around them when it comes to topics such as climate change, Dr. Borg stressed the point that through information, one can better understand what climate change truly implicates.

Throughout the discussion students had the opportunity to ask Dr Borg several question, spanning from the effect of climate change on crops to whether another ice age is in sight. Students present during the event included those attending Geography, Home Economics, and Environmental Science courses.

Meanwhile, during his introductory speech, Students’ Voice president Joseph Masini announced that several innovative events are to take place during the month of May, with information to be announced in the coming days.
