2300 Gozitan students attending primary schools in Gozo will now be able to recycle paper in new cardboard recycling containers being placed in every classroom.

The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono launched this initiative during a visit the Kercem Primary School on the occasion of World Environment Day.

The recycling containers have been designed in order to make them attractive to children and get their attention.. One of the designs is of Kikku, the children’s representative for Eco Gozo, who was also present for this activity..

The Minister said that this is just one of the links in the chain of initiatives taken by the Ministry for Gozo to promote good environmental practices, while also giving the children a sense of responsibility towards the enviroment. She added that these containers will also be distributed in public places around the island.

The Minister urged pupils and teachers to use these containers in the school, while trying to adopt the same practices at home. The Minister said that this will be helping ensure that Gozo continues to spread the mindset of responsibility in waste management.
