A Sette Giugno commemoration ceremony took place last night in Xaghra, organised by the National Festivities Committee within the Ministry for Gozo and the Xaghra Local Council.

The Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono presided and laid flowers during the ceremongy. Mr Joe Cordina, mayor of the locality and Mgr. Carmelo Refalo, Archpriest of Xaghra were also present.

The commemorative event included readings, music and the laying of flowers. These riots were the result of various unpopular measures taken by the English who were ruling the nation at the time. One of the victims was Guzeppi Bajada, born in Xaghra.
