The Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health said this morning that it wishes to inform food business operators in particular retailers but also other food establishments and deliverymen that as done in previous years, inspections are being carried out by the Health Inspectorate so as to ensure that foodstuffs such as bread and milk are not left on doorsteps of closed shops.

During the same inspections attention is also given to the storage, transportation temperature and hygienic conditions of foodstuffs like milk products, meat and other food requiring a temperature controlled environment. Any food that is found under unsuitable hygienic conditions is immediately sealed and operator restricted from selling same.

The public is being encouraged to report even anonymously any establishment that is noted to disregard these basic rules by calling on 21337333 between 7:30am and 2:30pm or by sending an email on complaints.ph@gov.mt
