This weeks articles in the PDF download are:

1. Two year 5 pupils from St Francis school, Victoria, Lorna Jane Cini of Ghajnsielem and Danica Sultana of Munxar, were recently among the fourteen finalists out of 273 entries who participated in an international schools essay competition.

The students wrote a letter to the UN Secretary-General, regarding the preservation of Rain Forests. The other finalists were from Russia, Ghana, India, USA, Montenegro, UK, Dubai and Samoa.

The Prize Giving Ceremony was held at the Living Rainforest Centre in Berkshire, UK. Since the Gozitan students were unable to attend, a short ceremony was held in the school, in the presence of all the other students.

The Head of School presented some books to each of the students, in appreciation of the work they had done. A certificate, which was sent to the students by post, was also presented.

2. Gabriel Gauci of Kercem was ordained deacon by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at the Cathedral in Victoria. Gabriel Gauci is seen on the Maltese Herald article with his family, including, left to right His sister Maria, Nicky Falzon and his wife Monica and their daughter Julia, his father Paul, his mother Guza and his brothers Gregory and Fr Roberto.

3. On the occasion of the feast of St Peter and St Paul celebrated in Nadur, more then sixty old statues of St Peter and St Paul, some of which date back as far as 1840, were being exhibited at the Nadur Local Council in ‘Joe Tabone Hall.’
