The Gaulitanus Choir will be participating in a double bill with the visiting BISYOC Symphonic Orchestra.

This year the BISYOC International Youth Orchestral Exchange will be holding its annual project, with the participation of over 80 youth musicians from various European countries, in Malta.

BISYOC are based at The Archbishop’s Seminary, at Rabat, Malta, where the young musicians will have workshops, rehearsals and intercultural events, apart from sports and outings, the project will end up with a grand Symphonic-Choral Concert featuring Antonio Vivaldi’s – Gloria RV 589, Michael Daugherty’s Route 66, Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 and Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2.

The Gaulitanus Choir (with guest soloists soprano Pamela Agius and contralto Connie Frances Zerafa) accompanied by the BISYOC Orchestra will be performing Vivaldi’s all-time great work which opens the concert. It will be conducted by Gaulitanus founder-director Colin Attard, who is also co-ordinating the concluding concerts in BISYOC’s Malta 2012 project. Then, BISYOC’s resident conductor Julian Gibbons takes over for the other three orchestral works.

The concert will first be held on Saturday, the 4th of August 2012 at 8.30pm in the Gozo Ministry’s Courtyard, St. Francis Square, Victoria and repeated on Sunday, the 5th of August 2012 at 8.00pm in the President’s Palace Courtyard, St. George’s Square, Valletta.

Entrance for the Gozo concert is free, though a donation would be appreciated, whereas entrance for the Malta concert is €7 as the concert is being held in aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund. Tickets are obtainable at the door.

On Friday, the 3rd of August 2012 at 8.30pm a Chamber Music Concert with the participation of the tutors of BISYOC & student groups will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, Valletta, Malta. Tickets at €5 can be obtained at the door.
