The grand finale of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin, also known as Santa Marija, will be celebrated in Victoria this evening.The Leone Band and the Victory Band of Xaghra will march from the Parish Centre to Cathedral Square at 6.15pm.

At 7.00pm the statue of Our Lady will start on the procession, with the participation of the Gozo Cathedral Chapter, Parish Clergy, the Leone Band, the Chorus Ecclesiae Cathedralis and the Cathedral Youth Choir.

The St Joseph Band of Ghajnsielem will march at 8.00pm from the Leone Band Club to the Cathedral Square where they will play a musical programme.

Xaghra’s Victory Band will play a musical programme on the bandstand in Independence Square.

There will be a grand fireworks display on Gelmus Hill at 10pm before the entry of the statue of Our Lady into the Cathedral, this will be followed by a band march at 11.00pm by the Leone Band from the Cathedral parish centre to Independence Square.
