Central Bank of Malta to issue new euro coin set dated 2012

The Central Bank of Malta is to issue a new euro coin set dated 2012, which will incorporate the eight Maltese euro coins, designed by Noel Galea Bason.
The set also includes a €2 commemorative coin, bearing the inscription ‘Majority Representation – 1887’. This coin was designed by Ganni Bonnici and is the second in a series of five coins, commemorating Malta’s constitutional history. The commemorative coin also bears the mint mark of the Royal Dutch Mint, which was responsible for the minting of the coins in the set.
This set, which is being issued on Monday, the 20th of August, will be in a distinctive presentation box, will also include a replica coin of the Roman period, the original of which is currently held in the Bank’s Museum collection.
The Bank will be contacting all persons who have placed their orders to inform them of their allocation, the means of payment and the dates on which they can collect their coins.
The sets will be available for collection from the Malta Coins Distribution Centre at the main building of the Central Bank of Malta.
