Victory Day commemoration ceremony being held in Victoria

A Victory Day memorial ceremony is being organised by the National and Regional Celebrations Committee within the Ministry for Gozo, on Sunday, the 2nd of September 2012, at 11.00am, in Independence Square, Victoria.
This commemoration ceremony remembering the Victories of the Great Siege of 1565 and the second World War will be presided over by the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono.
There will be a commemorative speech by Mr Franco Masini, followed by a short reconstruction of when the George Cross medal was first brought to Gozo 70 years ago.
The ceremony will also include the participation of the Malta Police Band, who will play the last post, followed by a minutes silence and the Reveille.
The Minister will then place a wreath on behalf of the Gozitan people at the war victims memorial, concluding with The National Anthem.
