A resident of Victoria was seriously injured early this morning after being hit by a car, which failed to stop. The incident took place in Capuchins Street, Victoria.

The 64-year old man who had been hit was taken to Gozo General Hospital, where it was found that although his injuries are serious, they are not life threatening.

A 28-year old woman from Victoria, later turned herself in at a police station saying that she had been the driver involved in the accident. She is also reported to be from Victoria and was driving a Daihatsu Sirion.

Police investigations are currently underway.
