Six Birkirkara St. Joseph swimmers set off at six this morning form Hondoq, on a gruelling 10 to 12-hour, 37-kilometre swim around Gozo.
Kurt Arrigo has just finished the swim in 12 hours. Josef and Simon Zammit encountered difficulties and had to give up.

The other 3 swimmers who completed the 37K swim are Sammy Attard, Gilbert Bartolo and Roberto Demicoli. All are on their way home after having swam for more than 13hrs. Exhausted but happy.uThe event is being organised by the Club’s charity partners ‘Swim-Aid’ to raise money for Joseph Bugeja who tragically lost his arm and two legs in an occupational accident.
The Club swimmers have been training for months and they are being accompanied by a safety team on two vessels throughout the event.

I am very happy for Kirt Arrigo,in succeeding to go swimming around Gozo,and do it
in 12 hours,and congradulation in finishing ,I known some friends of mine when
we were at the age of 16 years old tried to swim from Hondoq to Commino,and we were unsuccesful,because of all the current that keep pulling down,we had to stop,
and return swimming back to the nearest shore which is known Tac CAWL and
we found people keeping an eye on us,and told that we were in great danger!!!!!!!!!
