APS Bank photographic exhibition ‘Green, showcasing the winning entries to the 2011 competition, is to be shown in Gozo at Banca Giuratale, Independence Square, Victoria.

The bank said that participation in the competition was very encouraging with 98 photographers submitting over 250 prints. The Photography Competition invited participants to depict anything that is green, whether the colour in itself or any of the various connotations that the word has. This was the second in a series of competitions being organised by APS Bank in collaboration with the Malta Photographic Society.

Out of all the entries, twelve photos were chosen to compile the Bank’s 2012 calendar. The photo ‘L-Induratur’ by Josef Bonnici placed first in this competition, while the photo ‘Qaddief’ by the same photographer and the photo ‘Country Life’ by James Cassar placed second and third respectively.

The competition for 2012 was launched earlier this year with the theme ‘Movement’. All entries to this photography competition were expected to depict movement in any form. The results will be released at the end of this month.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the first 42 winning photographs. Shortlisted entries will then form part of a photo exhibition, which is planned for the beginning of next year, and may also be featured in the Bank’s annual calendar, promotional material or other publications as has been done with the photographs of the ‘Green’ theme.

The Exhibition in Gozo will open on the 24th of September and will run until the 7th of October. The opening hours are weekdays 8am-1pm and weekends 9am.12pm.
