1. The Don Bosco Oratory Youth Committee, in Victoria Gozo organised various activities in Victoria recently in celebration of Car Free Day 2012.

A street Football Tournament was held in St Augustine’s Square and in the foyer of the Don Bosco Oratory there was an Antique Photo & Painting Exhibition showing scenes of Gozo.

A Photo Treasure Hunt on Bicycles had a great response from both young and old, as did the water games which were held in Upper Republic Street. The trackless Fun Train made its way around Victoria, with plenty of people taking the opportunity to have a relaxing tour around the centre. The car free activities came to a close with a street variety show in Marsalforn.

2. A 4.57-metre-high sculpture of a grasshopper (gurat) by London-born artist and Gharb resident Paolo Giordanella was erected at St Cecilia heliport roundabout in Ghajnsielem.

The sculpture is a contemporary work made out of solid stainless steel, copper and brass. The grasshopper is one of 13 artworks selected by the Gozo Ministry through the eco-Gozo Public Art Scheme.

3. A group of youths and youth leaders from Sweden were recently in Gozo to take part in various activities together with the youths of the Don Bosco Oratory.

The activities included a Discussion Meeting and a Pizza Party. The Swedish youths also participated and sang during a Sunday Mass at the Don Bosco Oratory and helped out during the Summer Club for children organised at the same Oratory. The youths took part in a volunteering session with the disabled at the Arka Foundation.
