The Ministry for Tourism, Culture and Environment said in a statement today that it “deplores in the strongest terms the shooting of flamingos that occurred in St. Paul’s Bay, near Salina.”

The statment continued, “hunting protected birds is illegal, irresponsible and contrary to the common interest of our country.”

The Ministry said that it is contact with the Police to step up work against this illegal activity.

The statment concluded by saying that it is informed that the Police is to conduct interviews with some people in connection with illegal hunting. “This is irresponsible behavior that goes against the interest of those who want to pursue hunting in a legal manner.”
