R.A.C.I.S.M – Training Course organised by Y.E.U. MaltaYouth and Inclusion- these are two words that anyone in Malta working with Youths is all too familiar with; the challenge of including young people within useful sectors of our society.

Youth for Exchange and Understanding (Y.E.U) Malta is a Youth Organisation which has been active in Malta since 1995, and is part of a greater international community; YEU International.

The original aim of Y.E.U is to stimulate the development of close interaction between youths from different countries, and in doing so eradicate stereotypes which might be present. This very often happens through the design of international training courses, where youths are able to communicate in an intercultural environment.

This year, Y.E.U Malta is organising a training course between the 19th and the 26th of October, and under the title, ‘R.A.C.I.S.M’. This acronym stands for ‘Radical Action Combating Indifference & Supporting Migrants.’

The Course will host 24 young people coming from Tunisia, Egypt, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Armenia, Portugal, Georgia, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy and of course Malta.

Participants will work on developing the skills and awareness, knowledge and attitudes needed to work with young migrants, while including them in the local society and youth world.

With the support of the European Union Programmes Agency (EUPA), in Malta, Y.E.U Malta has obtained funding for the training course from the European Union through the Youth in Action Programme (Action 3.1). This Programme aims to achieve the following general objectives:

promote young people’s active citizenship in general and their European citizenship in particular;

develop solidarity and promote tolerance among young people, in particular in order to foster social cohesion in the European Union;

foster mutual understanding between young people in different countries;

contribute to developing the quality of support systems for youth activities and the capabilities of civil society organisations in the youth field;

promote European cooperation in the youth field.
