The reputable and innovative theatrical group, The Gozo Creative Theatre Club, in collaboration with the Gozo Culture and Information Office of the Ministry for Gozo and by arrangement with Nick Hern Books, will perform the irreverent comedy ‘Immaculate’ by Oliver Lansley.

This provoking, original and funny play deals with important themes such as difficult relationships, responsibilities, the realities of unsafe sex and the modern world losing faith in religion.

Immaculate’s heroine Mia, a young, single atheist woman, finds herself pregnant and she does not know who the father is. When the angel Gabriel appears on her doorstep claiming her baby to be the ‘son of the almighty,’ he is soon accompanied by other potential fathers; the ex-boyfriend, old nerdy classmate and Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness, who is adamant the unborn baby belongs to him!

Despite its rather controversial plotline, through its humour and completely absurd situation, it asks pointed questions about our beliefs.

Immaculate is directed by George Mizzi, the artistic director of the group along with a superb cast including Charlene Galea as Mia, Sharona Refalo as Mia’s best friend Rebecca, Darren Muscat as Mia’s ex-boyfriend Michael, Albert Gauci as Mia’s old classmate Gary Goodman, Jamie Camilleri as Lucifer, Mark Lawrence Zammit as archangel Gabriel and Vanessa Cooper.

Immaculate will be staged at the St John’s Hall, Citadel Centre for Culture and Arts, Citadel, Victoria, Gozo on Friday, the 9th and Saturday, the 10th of November 2012 from 8.30pm onwards. Entrance is free.

This performance is for an adult only audience and seating will be on a first come first served basis.
