The Executive of Gozo University Group (GUG) had the opportunity to meet Mr Anton Tabone. The meeting was a follow up of last year’s meeting in which GUG were able to give an overview of the objectives of the organisation for the year. Some of last year’s objectives were to give Gozitan university students the choice to make their exams in the Gozo campus and to improve the transport to University from Cirkewwa and vice versa.

The meeting started with a brief introduction and welcome of the new GUG executive committee. Afterwards GUG president Ryan Mercieca started the discussion by mentioning the importance of Gozo in the near future and the help needed to reach objectives.

The Gozitan student’s role in the Gozitan society was an important point mentioned by Mr Tabone. Work in Gozo was one of the hot debates in this meeting where, the GUG committee explained that in a recent survey it was noted out that most of the students thought they had no hope in obtaining a work opportunity in Gozo.

Mr Tabone said that the GUG should work for Gozo as no one else knows better the needs of the Gozitan students, he also pointed out that the Gozo campus is proof that the Gozitan society has moved a step forward. The campus has increased probability of new work places in Gozo and has also given the chance to introduce specialised courses about Gozo which can be used in future managing of the island.

GUG thanked Mr. Tabone for his service to the island of Gozo and our nation, Malta.
