‘Sound The Trumpet’ is a baroque and classic music concert to be held at the Sacred Heart Church at Nadur on Friday 16th November, at 7.00pm.

Artists performing in the concert are Jason Camilleri – trumpet, Andre Helleur- trumpet and Shirley Helleur- trumpet. Jason Camilleri started studying the trumpet at the age of 10 in his local village band, Mnarja, under the tuition of Joseph Camilleri and later with the present director Joseph Grech.

In 2000 Jason was appointed trumpet soloist with Mnarja band. Jason continued studying privately with Charles Mizzi, under whose tuition he passed ABRSM grades 5, 6, 7 and 8, all with distinction.

In 2008 he successfully auditioned for the AFM band and began a new career as a professional musician. He has already undertaken tours of Germany and Libya where he has shown a desire to learn from experienced musicians from other countries. In 2010 Jason passed the ABRSM Diploma with the guidance of Andre Helleur.

Jason is a member of the Malta – based Windmill Brass quartet, Fourtissimo Trumpet quartet and the newly-formed Gozitan ensemble Brass Delights.

In 2011 Jason was appointed assistant director of the Visitation band of Gharb where he is gaining valuable experience as a teacher and conductor. He is a very experienced performer and is in great demand by local bands and orchestras.
