A young boy was rescued earlier this afternoon by two French divers after he fell into the sea at Marsalforn.

The British boy and his parents were standing near the breakwater at Marsalforn when he fell in. The divers who were near the spot and saw the incident, immediately went into the water to assist and get the boy to shore.

Following their rescue of the boy, the divers too, found themselves in difficulty and members of the Civil Protection Department and Police gave aid to get them ashore.

The boy was taken to the Gozo General hospital and discharged shortly afterwards. The divers were unhurt.
