October’s industrial production up by 4.4% on last year

Provisional seasonally adjusted data show that in October, industrial production increased by 0.3 per cent over the previous month. Over the corresponding month last year, working day adjusted production went up by 4.4 per cent.
Compared to the previous month, the index of industrial production increased by 0.3 per cent to 107.7 points. This was due to an increase of 3.9 and 1.6 per cent in the production of energy and consumer goods respectively. On the other hand, decreases were registered in the production of intermediate and capital goods by 0.4 and 0.5 per cent respectively.
When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production increased by 4.4 per cent. All main industrial groupings registered an increase, with the production of intermediate and consumer goods advancing by 7.6 and 2.3 per cent respectively.
