The Victoria Scouts held a Bicycle Hike on Saturday to raise funds for the ‘Friends of the Sick and the Elderly.’ The Society which assists the sick and the elderly in every way and help improve and increase hospital and home facilities available for the safety, welfare, comfort and convenience of the sick and the elderly in Gozo.

Volunteers of the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps provided Ambulance and First Aid Assistance throughout the Bicycle Hike.

The event consisted of a bicycle hike in which each participant gave a donation. The Scouts had invited other groups and schools to join them for the ride. It started from the front of the Victoria Scouts Headquarters and continued through, Munxar, Sannat, Xewkija and Ghajnsielem.

It is customary that the Victoria Scout Group organises a good turn activity during the Christmas season. During the past 10 years, the Group has distributed over €20,000 from such activities to those who are in need.

The Group said that these activities encourage its members to help others who are in need (and in doing so practice the scout law and promise). This year, the Leaders have decided that all the proceeds should go towards the Gozitan society ‘Friends of the Sick and Elderly.’

A Car Treasure Hunt, also in aid of the same Society, was held by the Scouts Group on Republic Day.
