The British High Commissioner to Malta, Rob Luke met Manchester City football legend Paul Lake recently at the local supporters’ club in Bugibba.

Mr Lake who played for Man City between 1985 and 1995, was travelling with the Barclays Premier League Trophy, won by Roberto Mancini’s team last season, which was on display at the Manchester City Supporters’ Club’s premises in Bugibba for the day.

Mr Luke, who is a Man City supporter, said, “The Barclays Premier League is one of England’s best exports. It is great to see the trophy here in Malta where there is such passion for British football. And even better in City colours! I enjoyed meeting Paul and the local Supporters’ Club members, and recognising the excellent work they are doing for charity.”

While at the club Paul Lake met up with some of the Man City fans and posed for photographs with them. He gave a short speech which was followed by a question and answer session.

The football star was also presented with a cheque to the Charity in the City of Manchester. The trophy was flown back to the UK on Monday.
