The Labour Leader Dr Joseph Muscat has presented the candidates for the upcoming elections, saying, “the group of candidates being presented by the Partit Laburista (PL) is a mix of experienced individuals, youths, veterans and individuals who up to some time ago were active in other parties. Today all these people are working together shoulder to shoulder. This team appeals to all sections and levels of society.”

“The team is made up of 86 individuals who will be striving to ensure the implementation of the Roadmap for the 20 priorities.” The PL Leader continued, “that 48% of the candidates representing the PL will be contesting for the first time.”

Joseph Muscat further explained that 17% of the candidates are less than 35 years of age, whilst 14% are women. He added that these candidates are submitting their candidature because they want to give something back to the country.

The PL Leader said that the Maltese people will have a good choice of candidates in every electoral district, where not only is there a quantity of candidates, but above all, there are candidates of quality.

“The PL did not engage in auction politics, which implies that if someone offers something, the other party tries to up the offer to score more points. The PL is engaging in responsible politics,” Dr Muscat said.

Joseph Muscat concluded, “this team of candidates has united in order to change the direction of the country together, because they do not embrace past political styles, which look at individuals’ faces, but as opposed to this, this team only beholds a single face, the Maltese face.”
