In 2012, volunteers from the Emergency Fire & Rescue Unit (EFRU) nominated two of their fellow members for the ‘President’s Award for Voluntary Work’ – Ivan Barbara, EFRU Director and Sandro Camilleri, Snr. Manager i/c of Operations.

Along with another ten nominees from a variety of backgrounds, both Ivan and Sandro were shortlisted by the selection board and invited to present a project each, should they win the award for their impeccable voluntary work. The awardee would be granted a financial package for their proposed project.

During the award night, held on Wednesday at the President’s Palace in Valletta, the winner was announced to be Ms. Pauline Bartolo.

The EFRU give their congratulations to Ms. Bartolo on winning the award and wish her good luck for her ongoing work in Egypt, Peru and Kenya.
