The Nationalist Party in a statement today said that denied allegations that it wanted to eventually abolish hunting and trapping, by the means of holding a referendum.
Yesterday Lino Farrugia, the FKNK Secretary General, in a statement with St Hubert Hunters that during the ‘Big Debate’ held earlier in the week, that he was ready to hold a referendum on hunting, if the Party was re-elected.
The PN Party said that that this was a “false allegation” and that the Prime Minister was saying that he “respects the Maltese laws, which is that if at least 10% of the eligible votors want an abrogative referendum, then this would have to be held. This was a state of fact and would remain the same unless the law was changed by the Governement.”
The statement continued by saying that the PN Party is in favour, within the perameters of the law, of sustainable hunting and trapping.

On islands as small as Malta and Gozo with such a high density of population i would appreciate if someone from the Nationalist Party could explain how and hunting or trapping could be sustainable.
