Voting documents issued in old people's homes and hospitalsThe Electoral Commission has said that it would like to notify all administrators of old people’s homes and hospitals as follows:

The voting document belongs to the person to whom it has been issued and “whoever is in illegal possession of a voting document would be committing a crime.”

The Commission said that “although no influence should be exercised on the residents/patients of these homes and hospitals, administrators should ensure that on polling day there should be free access to residents/patients who are to cast their vote as well as to those authorised persons who are to accompany them to the polling places – if the voters themselves prefer so.”
