Joseph Muscat, Leader of the PL at a political event in Cospicua said, “from this historic location which traditionally leans towards the Partit Laburista (PL) I encourage each and every one of you to help us in delivering our message to all those who will be voting for the PL for the first time; to believe them and encourage them to vote for this movement because Malta is for all.”

The PL movement was born in Cospicua the Labour Leader said, “and it is also the place where workers’ rights originated. It is important to start investing again in this location so that it no longer features in the lowest classification with respect to education.”

Muscat insisted that a new Government will be working relentlessly to ensure that once children conclude their secondary education, they are given the necessary support to pursue their studies and not give up on their education.

He affirmed that the PL has a duty to continue to work to ensure that individuals are given their rights, irrespective of their political beliefs. He also highlighted the fact that the PL will be increasing these liberties.

Dr Muscat mentioned the decriminalisation of homosexuality which occurred under a Labour government 40 years and 2 months ago. Dr Muscat said that up to that moment, 2 homosexual persons would risk going to jail. “We will not be waiting for another 40 years to pass in order to increase civil rights, because a new Government will be introducing the right of civil union. This is clear proof that a new Government will not be interfering in individuals’ private lives.”

The Labour Leader urged all those present to help the PL movement to deliver its message of hope, both with those who have always voted for the PL as well as for those who will be voting for the PL for the very first time. With respect to the latter, the PL Leader reiterated that “the PL Movement will be believing that they too will be making history to ensure that this country is for all.”
