Provisional seasonally-adjusted data show that industrial production increased by 1.5 per cent in January over the previous month. This follows on from an increase in December of 1.7%.

Industrial production adjusted for working days rose by 9.6 per cent when compared to the corresponding month of 2012, the National Statistics Office said today.

The industrial production index went up by 1.5 per cent to 112.5 points in January 2013. The production of intermediate goods, energy and consumer goods increased by 2.1, 1.3 and 3.2 per cent respectively while the production of capital goods decreased by 0.7 per cent.

When compared to the corresponding month last year, the index of industrial production increased by 9.6 per cent.

Increases were registered in all main industrial groupings with notable increases of 7.8 and 16.0 per cent in the production of intermediate and consumer goods respectively.
