AFM to mount a Guard of Honour for Opening of Parliament

The Armed Forces of Malta will be mounting a Guard of Honour on the occasion of the Opening of Parliament. The first session of the 12th Parliament will be held at 10.45am. this coming Saturday the 6th of April.
The Guard of Honour and the AFM Colours led by the AFM Band will march on at 11.20am. The Commander of the AFM, Brigadier Martin G Xuereb will be accorded a General Salute at 11.37am followed by his Excellency the President of Malta, Dr George Abela who is expected to arrive at St George’s Square where a National Salute will be accorded at 11.40am. His Excellency will then proceed to inspect the Guard of Honour.
Subsequently, the President will enter the Palace and prior to the official address to the House of the Representatives, the AFM trumpeters will sound the fanfare. Upon completion, the President accompanied by the Commander AFM will make his way to St George’s Square to receive a second National Salute by the Guard of Honour marking closing of the ceremony.
