Air Malta has now become one of the top five pages from Malta on Facebook, according to respected social analytics agency SocialBakers.

More than 50,000 fans now actively follow and engage with the airline’ regular updates, the majority of which expressed their affinity for th airline’s official Facebook Page within the last 12 months.

Air Malta’s Commercial Chief, Philip Saunders, commented, “During this time, the airline has been investing more resources to become more noticed and more relevant on the most popular social platform. Facebook is also integrated with the new website, launched In March, allowing users to log in using their credentials, as well as displaying the latest Facebook activity in real-time.

“About half of Air Malta’s Facebook community are Maltese, who contribute actively with comments and observations and share the airline’s updates with their own network. Air Malta is enabling both new and established customers to share their passion for Malta with the friends based abroad. These interactions are expected to continue increasing as people turn to social recommendations while planning the trips abroad.”

Philip Saunders continued, the airline also runs regular competitions to encourage more people to join the thriving community. At the moment, the Air Malta Facebook Page is hosting the airline’s popular ‘Invite & Win’ competition, with 30 tickets to be given away to the lucky winners. Fans may invite a minimum of two friends to be eligible to participate.

“There will be three winners that will be chosen after the closing date. Each winning fan will be asked a simple question and can choose two of his Facebook friends to travel with to an Air Malta scheduled destination.”

Air tickets are valid for travel during period 1st October 2013 till end May 2014 with a block out period during Christmas 2013 and Easter 2014. There is no limit on the number of friends one can invite. The more friends one invites, the more chances to win.
