Updated: Fifty-year-old Benny Attard of Xaghra has been jailed for 30 years for the murder of Gozitan warden Fortunata Spiteri in 2001.

Mr Attard who stood accused of involvement in the murder of the Gozitan warden, plead guilty this morning instead of standing trial.

He was accused of having, together with others, held and stabbed the warden while she was on duty on August the 10th 2001.

Another man, Gianni Attard, is awaiting trial for the wardens murder.
