For the third consecutive year, the European Institute for Gender Equality has published a calendar featuring ‘Women inspiring Europe.’

The EIGE aims in promoting gender equality together with fighting and raising awareness on gender issues. By means of this calendar, the Institute gives evidence and at the same time, pays homage to some of Europe’s most remarkable ladies.

These women, drawn from across Europe, come from various walks of life and fields of expertise. They all share their experiences and can stimulate and inspire new generations of young women.

Maria Attard, Director of Guzeppa Debono Home of Ghajnsielem was chosen and is featured on the calendar for the month of November.

The EIGE considers Maria Attard as the ‘Guardian of the Vulnerable’ for she works hard to protect the rights and dignity of young ladies. The article describes also the work and professional services offered at the Home tackling problems faced by unmarried pregnant teenagers.

This is surely another credit not only for Ms Attard but for the Maltese. Progression along the years provided various services which support the human being since conception and people like Maria go out of their way to educate, assist and tackle social problems with the aim of reaching independence, equality and a better living.
