The annual Campaign towards a Morally Healthy and Strong Environment is traditionally opened by the Catholic Action Movement in Gozo at Mary’s feet in the church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, ‘Ta’ Hamet,’ dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel on the anniversary of the Apparition at Fatima.

The Catholic Church commemorates the anniversary of the First Marian apparition which occurred in Fatima (Portugal). In the Gozo Diocese these apparitions are solemnly commemorated in the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel popularly known as ‘Ta’ Hamet’ Church, limits of Xaghra / Xewkija. In this church, one finds the Diocesan Statue of Our Lady of Fatima which was blessed by H.H. Pope Pius XII in 1949.

This year this appointment occurs on Monday, the 13th of May: after meditated Rosary in front of the solemly exposed Blessed Sacrament with the help of reflections by St Gianna Beretta Molla at 6.30pm, there will be a Solemn Concelebrated Mass led by H.L. Bishop Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo, in which he inaugurates a campaign in favour of a morally clean environment.

Then the ‘Diocesan’ statue of OL of Fatima will be carried processionally around the neighborhood streets, accompanied by prayers.
