First edition of ‘RockAstra’ with the La Stella Band in June

La Stella Philharmonic Society of Victoria has announced the first edition of ‘RockAstra,’ a musical spectacle performed by the La Stella Band along with a number of local musicians, which will take place in Independence Square, Victoria, Gozo on Saturday, the 8th of June.
The concert will be under the direction of Mro Sigmund Mifsud, an important personality in the musical and artistic scene where he has established a name in the field of large concerts. Mro Mifsud was recently appointed as guest conductor of La Stella Band.
The annoucement was made during a conference with the Tourism Minister, George Vella, the Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo and the Parliamentary Secretary for Culture and Local Government, Jose Herrera. They said that such events are needed to encourage domestic tourism to the island, urging other entities to organise similar activities to serve as a tourist attraction.
The Minister for Gozo, thanked the Society for its contribution to the local scene, saying that the Ministry would continue to provide support for such events.
Mro Sigmund Mifsud said that he is looking forward to the event in Gozo with optimism and enthusiasm.. “The concert will have some of the best local elements,” Mro Mifsud said and added that the organisers are doing everything to make this event a success in the local artistic calendar.
As well as the performance by La Stella Band, there will be a rhythmic section with the participation of drums and electric guitars, synonymous with music rock. The concert will contain excerpts from the repertoire of The Beatles, Queen, Lucio Dalla and Zucchero, as well as local artists like Chris Grech, Petra Zammit, Morena and Paul Borg Bonaci.
