A motorcyclist was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this afternoon in Victoria.
The incident, which happened at around 1.30pm, was on the road to San Lawrenz, close to St Mary’s, the rider had been knocked from his motorcycle and slid along road.
Fortunately a volunteer from the Emergency Response and Rescue Corps of Gozo passed by the accident a few minutes later and was able to attend to the patient until the emergency services arrived shortly afterwards.
The extent of the injuries, or the condition of the rider, is not known at present.

Victoria to St Lawrence is a beautiful but dangerous road now it has been upgraded, vehicles drive too fast and overtake erratically just to save a few seconds of their journey.
Incidents like today’s are re-occurring far too often along this stretch of road, I hope the Minister responsible seriously considers introducing a speed limit as a matter of urgency.
More fast and laud motorcyclist we need . Maybe the government will wake up !
as qualified motorists they should know the speed limits on the roads, its in the highway code ( this may come as a suprise but their is a highway code book here )
through my village is a 30klm pr hour speed limit, clearly sign posted but ignored by 90% of vehicles, the stretch of new road between xewkija roundabout and victoria is used as a a drag strip, but who enforces the law ? easy money in fines if the police where on the ball,
makes me laugh to see the police “mobile squad” vehicles, when was the last time you saw one stop a vehicle for a motoring offence ?

A very cheap way to enforce speed limit rules/ regulations as you clearly know are the fixed and mobile cameras. Hefty fines, demerit points and disqualifications. This will surely slow them down. Mobile cameras are operated by contractors in different areas at different times, They could be in your street without warning, on day to day basis.
Copped a few myself, just for going about 5kmh over the limit.

The motorcycle involved here can do 60 to 70 km maximum
It is the speed limit on that particular road that counts, not what speed the motorcycle or any other vehicle is able to reach.
