A prestigious painting showing the Marriage at Cana (150cm by 191cm), painted in 1987 by Gozitan artist George Fenech, has been presented to the Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary. It was Fenech’s wish that his painting would be exhibited in a place of worship.

The presentation took place on Saturday, the 22nd of June at the end of the Pontifical Mass presided by Bishop Mario Grech. The Bishop blessed the painting which is an idiom in contemporary pictorial art and is one of the most renowned and familiar paintings by Fenech.

At the moment ‘The Wedding of Cana’ is exposed in the sanctuary of the Basilica. It is a possibility that the picture will be the titular painting of the retreat-chapel.

With this donation, the Sanctuary said that it has been further enriched in its artistic heritage; the Basilica can boast of paintings by Mario CaffaroreRore, GiuseppeBriffa u Emvin Cremona.
